Course Planning

Students work directly with their site to plan their courses accordingly. Below is a course planning document designed to assist students with course planning and selection. This form is not required to be submitted.

If you have questions or concerns about course selection, please contact your site coordinator or your academic advisor, Kera Franceschini at francekm@buffalostate.edu. Students are also encouraged to track their progress in the program through DegreeWorks.

Course Requirements:

It is the student’s responsibility to select courses that follow the degree requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 courses or 15 credit hours, of graduate work must be completed in 600-700 level courses- For example, EDU 501 is not 600 level and SPF 689 is 600 level
  • A maximum of 6 courses, 18 credit hours, of courses with an EDU prefix can be included in your program (including research courses) – For example, EDU 501 is an EDU prefix and SPF 689 is not
  • Each student must complete SPF 689 Research Methods and EDU 690 Masters Project. These can only be completed after completing 5 courses, 15 credits
  • A maximum of 6 credits in EDU594/596 courses are applicable toward the Master's degree program
